On a visit to Bridon Farms, I spotted a young cow with veins all over her udder and full of style and quality. She was a cow which Bridon had purchased called Huronia Rene Magic. She was shown at the Royal Canadian Winter Fair and had an all Canadian Nomination.
I explained I was looking for a cow to follow Imperial Lady and after some negotiations a deal was done. However, she first had to go to a CHAH Free Herd for six months before being tested to export. If this didn't work out the Sayles Family agreed to have Magic back but thankfully for us Magic made it to Northern Ireland.
We flushed Magic a lot, to good success, to a variety of bulls. She bred two 89 point two year olds and left us some exceptional brood cows, accumulating 5 EX and 5 VG progeny. At the 2008 Ulster Winter Fair both the Champion and Reserve Champion were Magic females, one a daughter the other a grand daughter of Huronia Rene Magic respectively.
Rene Magic is now a 7* Gold Star Brood cow and the family is developing well in a number of herds.
Other branches of this family feature regularly on the Canadian Journal, known as the M Family from Huronia.
